Boris the Bear stomped through the forest. Stomp, STOMP. "Harrumph!" he grumbled. The berries were a brilliant red, the bluebells chimed a lovely blue, but Boris was just… blah. One day, a little robin with a twinkle in her eye landed on his nose. "Boris," she chirped, "your heart is a color-by-number picture! You just need to find the right crayons." Boris grunted. "Crayons? I'm a bear!" The robin giggled. "The crayons are deeds, silly bear! Look, your first number is One: Share a Smile." Boris felt silly, but when he saw a sad little badger, he tried. He stretched his mouth into a wobbly grin. The badger looked up and smiled back! Just then, a patch on Boris’s chest warmed up and turned a sunny yellow, the color of One. "Wow!" Boris gasped. "What's next?" The robin pointed her wing. "Two: Help a Friend." He saw a squirrel struggling with a giant nut. Heave, HO! Boris gave the nut a gentle nudge with his nose, and the squirrel scampered away happily. Poof! A stripe of friendly orange, the color of Two, appeared on his back. He helped a frog, shared his berries, and gave a warm hug. With each kind act—a splash of green, a dot of purple, a streak of blue—his fur became a beautiful, patchwork rainbow. He was no longer Boris the Grumpy Bear. He was Boris the Beautiful, and he had colored himself happy from the inside out.
