Coloring page story

Leo was a ginger cat with a brave heart. He saw a beautiful blue butterfly resting on a flower at the very top of the small apple tree. "I must see it up close!" he thought.

He put one paw on the trunk, then another. Up, up, up he climbed, his little claws holding on tight. He wiggled past a green leaf. He balanced on a bumpy branch.

He finally reached the top! Just as he got there, the butterfly fluttered its wings and flew high into the sky. Leo wasn't sad. He sat on the branch, king of the tree, and saw his whole garden. The view was an even better prize.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The vertical composition of this design is great for ages 3-5, as it naturally draws the eye upward, following the story. The elements—cat, tree, leaves, butterfly—are all large, distinct, and easy to identify and color, supporting both narrative comprehension and fine motor practice.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Wow, look at Leo the brave cat! He climbed all the way to the top of the tree. Can you help color his big adventure? First, let's color the big tree trunk and all the green leaves. Then you can color Leo himself! What color is a brave cat? At the very top, there's a beautiful butterfly outline you can color, too. Have fun reaching the top!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print this coloring page in 'portrait' orientation to make the most of the tall tree design. Using slightly thicker paper will give a nice feel and hold up well to vigorous coloring, especially on the large tree trunk area. This will make the cat stand out.

Recommended Tools

This page is perfect for a set of vibrant washable markers. Their broad tips can cover the tree and trunk, while the finer points can be used for the cat and butterfly. This helps children practice using different parts of the marker tip.
