Coloring page story

Archie was an arch block. He was curvy and round on top. All the other blocks were squares and rectangles. When they built a straight wall, he would roll right off. Wibble-wobble-thud! "I don't fit," Archie said sadly. He watched them build a big, square castle. It was missing something. (Unexpected Twist) They needed a door! Archie was the perfect shape for a grand doorway. All the other blocks could go in and out through him. He was the most important block of all!

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

This design is excellent for 3-5 year olds. The large castle structure is engaging but broken down into simple, manageable blocky sections. The story is told clearly in a single image, and the positive emotional payoff (Archie's happy face) is the central focus.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Here is the big, big castle! And look, there's our friend Archie the arch! He makes the perfect door. What color will you make the castle? Maybe a royal gray or a magical purple? You can make Archie a special, bright color so everyone knows he is the grand entrance. Let's give the little blocks walking through a happy color, too!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

For this page with its large solid areas, printing on slightly textured paper (like watercolor or drawing paper) can add a nice effect when using crayons. Use your printer's normal quality setting; the thick lines will be clear and easy to follow. A good print of the blocky castle will look very impressive.

Recommended Tools

Broad-tip markers are ideal for covering the large wall sections of the castle quickly. Crayons are great for adding texture; your child can rub the side of a crayon to color the walls. Glitter glue could be used to add a 'magical' sparkle to Archie the doorway after the coloring is done.
