Bella the golden retriever puppy was very smart, but she was also very wiggly. Her person, a girl named Maya, was trying to teach her a new trick.

"Sit, Bella, sit!" Maya said, holding a tiny treat.

But Bella didn't sit. She wiggled. She licked Maya’s hand. She chased her tail. Maya tried again. "Sit, Bella!"

Bella sniffed the treat and got so excited that she jumped up and down. Then, for just a second, her bottom touched the floor. "Good sit!" said Maya, and quickly gave her the treat. Crunch!

Bella thought, "Oh! When my bottom touches the floor, I get a treat!" The next time Maya said "Sit," Bella plonked her bottom right down on the floor and wagged her tail proudly. She was the cleverest puppy in the world!
