It was Sam’s birthday party. His favourite present was a single, giant balloon that swirled with all the colours of the rainbow.

Sam held the string tightly, but a big gust of wind—WHOOSH!—pulled it from his hand! The rainbow balloon floated up, up, up. "Oh no!" cried Sam.

But the balloon wasn't sad. It was on an adventure! It floated over the rooftops, saying hello to the birds. It drifted past the park, where it waved to the children on the swings. Finally, the wind grew tired and gently pushed the balloon back down, right into Sam's garden. It got tangled in the branches of the apple tree, waiting for him.

Sam rescued his balloon and gave it a hug. "You had a big adventure," he whispered. "Now you can stay with me."
