Coloring page story

Percy Penguin was five years old today! But he lived at the South Pole, where it was too cold for an outdoor party with bouncy castles.

Suddenly, Percy heard a sound. Stomp, stomp, stomp! It was his friend, Walter the Walrus, marching with his tummy jiggling like a big drum. Tap, tap, tap! Next came Stella the Seal, tapping two smooth stones together like cymbals. Flap, flap, flap! A whole line of puffins flew overhead, flapping their wings in a happy rhythm.

They all marched right up to Percy’s igloo. "It's a birthday parade!" they all cheered. Percy was so happy, he started to waddle and dance at the front of the line. It was the best, loudest, and waddliest birthday parade ever.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The 3-5 age group will love the clear, friendly animal shapes. The concept of a parade is exciting and easy to grasp. The outlines are simple and large, minimizing difficulty and encouraging confidence in coloring. This happy birthday scene with anthropomorphic animals marching fosters imagination and provides a fun context for learning animal names.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

It's a happy birthday parade! Let's get our colors ready. Percy the Penguin is at the front. What color will you make his party feet? Then there's Walter the Walrus with his big tummy drum and Stella the Seal with her rock cymbals. You can make each animal a different color to make the parade super festive. Try to stay inside the big black lines to make your picture look extra neat!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Use a slightly heavier paper, like 24 lb or 67 lb, to give the coloring page a quality feel, worthy of a parade. Printing in 'black and white' mode on your printer will ensure the outlines are as dark and clear as possible, providing great contrast for coloring. A clear outline makes for a happy little artist!

Recommended Tools

Crayon sticks or twistable crayons are excellent for this age group, offering good color without the mess. They are perfect for filling in the large, empty white areas of the animals. For a bolder look, washable dot markers can be used to fill the shapes with fun, uniform circles of color, adding another layer of texture to the happy birthday parade.
