Coloring page story

Leo the leprechaun loved his big, green hat. It was the perfect shade of moss and sat just so upon his head. But one windy morning, WHOOSH! a great gust of wind blew his hat right off his head and up, up, up into the branches of a tall oak tree.

"Oh, my hat!" cried Leo. He was much too small to climb so high.

Just then, a friendly squirrel with a twitchy nose scampered down the trunk. "What's the trouble, little fellow?" she chattered.

"My hat! It's stuck!" said Leo, pointing a tiny finger.

The squirrel zipped up the tree, nudged the hat with her nose, and sent it tumbling down. It landed right back on Leo's head. "Thank you!" cheered Leo. He reached into his pocket and gave the squirrel the shiniest, most perfect acorn she had ever seen.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The Chibi/Cute Cartoon style with its rounded shapes, large heads, and simple expressions is highly appealing and non-intimidating for children aged 3-5. The large, distinct sections for the characters, hat, and tree are perfect for developing motor skills without causing frustration. The clear, positive emotional theme of gratitude is easy for this age group to understand and connect with on St. Patrick's Day.

You can make the tree trunk a strong brown and the grass a happy green. Take your time and have fun filling in all the wonderful spaces.

Coloring Page Printing Tips

For the best coloring experience, print this page on medium to heavy-weight paper, like cardstock. This prevents markers from bleeding through and stands up to enthusiastic crayon use. Use your printer's standard or 'normal' quality setting for crisp, clear lines that will make your child's St. Patrick's Day artwork pop!

Recommended Tools

Large, chunky crayons are perfect for little hands aged 3-5, helping them develop a proper grip. Washable markers are also a great choice for vibrant colors and easy cleanup. For a quieter activity, colored pencils offer more control. Always supervise young children with art supplies, ensuring caps are replaced on markers.
