Coloring page story

Pip Squeak the fairy woke up one morning and his wand wouldn't work. The little star on the end, which usually fizzed with light, was as dull as a pebble. He shook it. Nothing. He polished it on a mossy patch. Still nothing.

He sat on a mushroom feeling very glum. A cheerful caterpillar wiggled by. "What's wrong, Pip?" it asked.

"My wand has lost its sparkle!" he cried.

The caterpillar thought for a moment. "A wand's sparkle is made of happy magic," it said. "Have you tried a giggle?"

Pip Squeak thought of the silliest thing he knew – a squirrel trying to hide a giant nut in a tiny hole. He started to chuckle, then he giggled, then he laughed a big, tummy-jiggling laugh. FZZZZ-POP! The star on his wand burst into a shower of beautiful, happy sparks.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The 'Expressive Cartoon' style helps children aged 3-5 understand emotions through clear visual cues, like Pip's big smiling outline. The simple, large shapes of the fairy, mushroom, and caterpillar are designed for little hands that are still developing fine motor control, making coloring a successful and non-frustrating experience.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Hello there! Pip Squeak is so happy now, can you see his big smile? Let's use our most cheerful colors! You can make the star on his wand sparkle with a bright yellow or orange. The friendly caterpillar would love some fun colors, maybe green or even stripes! Try to keep your beautiful colors inside the big black outline strokes. Let's make Pip Squeak's happy moment super colorful!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print on standard A4 or Letter paper. For a sturdier page that holds up to enthusiastic coloring, use a light cardstock. Ensure the print setting is on 'black and white' to save ink and produce crisp, clear outline strokes perfect for coloring.

Recommended Tools

Jumbo crayons are ideal for this age group, as they are easy to hold and can color the large areas like the mushroom top quickly. Washable markers are also a great, vibrant option. Using glitter glue with a grown-up's help on the star outlines can make the fairy's magic feel real!
