Coloring page story

Not all cats have a warm home. On International Cat Day, a boy named Finn and his mom decided to do something nice for the shy tabby cat who sometimes visited their garden.

They couldn't pet him, because he was too scared. But they could give him a gift.

Mom opened a can of special, yummy cat food. Scchhh-pop! It smelled like fish. Finn carefully put the food in a clean bowl. He carried it outside and set it down near the big green bush where the cat liked to hide. They also filled a small bowl with fresh water. Then, they went inside to watch from the window.

Unexpected Plot Twist: After a few minutes, the tabby cat peeked out. He ate all the food! The next morning, when Finn went outside, he found a small, smooth gray feather sitting right next to the empty bowl. It was a thank-you gift from the cat.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The simple composition and clear story elements are perfect for ages 3-5. Large, distinct shapes like the bush, the cat, and the bowls are easy for small hands to navigate. The story promotes prosocial behavior (kindness, empathy), which is a key developmental focus for this age group.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

This is a picture about being kind. A shy cat got a yummy dinner, and left a beautiful feather to say 'thank you'. Can you color the big bush with lots of greens? The cat could be a stripy tabby cat, so you can draw some lines on him! What color is the special feather? This is a beautiful way to show kindness on International Cat Day.

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print this on any standard paper. To extend the activity, print two copies and have your child color one and draw what they think the boy who left the food looks like on the other. It's a great way to expand the International Cat Day story.

Recommended Tools

Crayons are perfect for creating texture on the bush and the cat. Markers would make the bowls and feather stand out. Using different tools can add dimension to this simple but powerful scene of kindness.
