Coloring page story

Freddie the Frog sat on the bank of the pond. He wanted to visit his friend, Polly the Tadpole, on the other side. But the pond was so big! Splash! A big, round, green lily pad floated by. Freddie had an idea. He hopped onto the lily pad. Boing! It wiggled but it didn't sink. "This can be my boat!" he croaked happily.

But how would it move? A gentle wind pushed the lily pad, but very slowly. Whoosh... (Unexpected Twist) Just then, a line of busy ants came marching by. "We can help!" they squeaked. They all climbed onto a long blade of grass hanging over the water and started pushing. Push, push, push! The lily pad taxi started to move across the water, carrying Freddie safely to the other side. "Best taxi ever!" ribbited Freddie.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The round, soft shapes are non-intimidating and appealing to children aged 3-5. The large, distinct areas for the lily pad, frog, and grass are easy for small hands to color within the lines, helping to build confidence and fine motor control.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Wow, look at Freddie's special boat! What color is a lily pad? That's right, it's green! You can use a big green crayon to color the whole thing. And what about Freddie? You can make him a green frog, or maybe a rainbow frog! Don't forget the little ants on the grass leaf. They are such good helpers! You can make the water a nice, wavy blue.

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print this page in 'landscape' orientation to give more space for the wide lily pad taxi. Using a slightly thicker paper, like 24 lb., will help it hold up to enthusiastic crayon or marker coloring.

Recommended Tools

Jumbo crayons or colored pencils are fantastic for this page. The large tip of a jumbo crayon will fill in the lily pad area quickly, giving a great sense of accomplishment. Washable markers are also fun for the smaller details like the ants.
