Coloring page story
Lily saw a big bucket of fluffy, pink flowers at the store. "What are those, Mama?" she asked, pointing.
"Those are carnations, my little sprout," Mama said with a smile.
"Why are there so many today?" Lily wondered. On the way home, she saw them everywhere!
When they got home, Grandma was waiting with a big hug and a single pink carnation. She gave it to Mama. "Happy Mother's Day," she whispered. Mama’s eyes sparkled.
Later, Lily asked Grandma, "Why did you give Mama a carnation?"
Grandma sat Lily on her lap. "A long, long time ago," she began, "a wise woman said these flowers are made of love. They are soft like a mother's hug and sweet like her kisses. So now, we give them to our mothers to say, 'Thank you for your love.'"
Lily's eyes grew wide. It wasn't just a flower; it was a hug you could hold!
Plot Twist: The next morning, Lily tiptoed into the garden. She didn't pick a flower. Instead, she gave her mama a big, long hug. "I'm a carnation!" she giggled.

Coloring Page Printing Tips
For best results, print this page on medium to heavy-weight paper, like cardstock. This will prevent markers from bleeding through and stand up to enthusiastic crayon coloring. Using your printer's 'high quality' or 'photo' setting will ensure the black lines are crisp and clear, making the carnations scene pop.
Recommended Tools
Chunky crayons are perfect for little hands to grip and color the large areas. Washable markers are also a great choice for bright, bold colors. For a softer look, colored pencils are lovely, but make sure they are jumbo-sized for easier handling by preschoolers.
