Coloring page story

Gus the little cloud felt very, very grumpy. Everything was gray. The sun was too bright. The birds were too chirpy. A low, grumpy rumble...rumble...rumble started in his fluffy tummy. He didn't want to rain on his friends playing below in the meadow.

He tried to hold the rumble in. He puffed up his cheeks and held his breath. Poof! A little bit of grumpy drizzle escaped. The flowers below shivered. Gus felt even worse.

Twist: A wise old mountain saw him. "Little cloud," the mountain said in a deep, kind voice. "A grumpy rumble needs a place to go. Try rumbling at me. My big, strong rocks don't mind."

Gus turned toward the mountain and let out his biggest, loudest rumble: GRRRRUMMMBLE-BOOM! And then... he felt lighter. The gray feeling was gone. He was just a soft, white cloud again.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The design is ideal for children aged 3-5. The large, personified characters (cloud, mountain) are engaging and non-threatening. The clear separation between elements and the thick outlines make it easy to color. This visual representation of releasing anger safely is a powerful social emotional tool for this age, where abstract concepts need concrete examples.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Wow, look at Gus the Cloud! He's letting his grumpy feelings out in a safe way. You can help him! What color are his grumpy rumbles? You can make them loud with bright reds and oranges inside the zig-zag lines. The mountain is strong and kind; what color is a kind mountain? Maybe a calm blue or a strong brown. Remember to fill all the white spaces with your wonderful colors, staying inside the black lines.

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print this page on standard letter paper using your printer's 'black and white' or 'grayscale' setting to ensure the lines are rich and black. This provides a high-contrast guide for your child, making the coloring activity more focused and enjoyable. A clear print helps them see the safe space the mountain provides for Gus's feelings.

Recommended Tools

Washable markers are great for filling the large areas of the cloud and mountain. Crayons can be used to create texture on the mountain outline. Using different tools for different parts of the drawing can be a fun way to explore the story's social emotional themes—like a soft crayon for the kind mountain and a bold marker for the loud rumble.
