Coloring page story

On top of Sunny Hill stood a tree with one perfect swing. Every morning, Freddie the Frog and Rosie the Rabbit raced to the swing. Whoever got there first would swing for a long, long time, while the other had to wait, feeling fidgety and left out.

This morning, they arrived at the exact same time. "I'm first!" yelled Freddie. "No, I am!" shouted Rosie. They stood on either side of the swing, glaring. The swing hung sadly between them.

Twist: The swing itself, who had felt many children play, gave a little creak. Creeeak-squeak. It sounded like it was saying, "Push-me." Rosie looked at Freddie. Freddie looked at Rosie. What if... they didn't swing on it first? What if they swung it?

Freddie gave the swing a little push toward Rosie. Rosie pushed it back toward Freddie. Soon they were laughing, pushing the empty swing back and forth. Then Rosie had an idea. "I'll push you for ten pushes, then you push me!"

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

This coloring page is excellent for ages 3-5. The characters are distinct and their actions are clear, making the story easy to follow. The large shapes of the tree, hill, and characters are well-suited for developing motor skills. The social emotional lesson of turning conflict into a cooperative game is demonstrated in a simple, positive, and memorable way.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Look at Rosie and Freddie! They decided to play together instead of fighting. That's a great idea! Can you help make their game colorful and fun? What color is the big, strong tree? You can give Rosie and Freddie bright, happy colors. Make the sun shine with a bright yellow crayon! As you color, remember that taking turns means everyone gets to laugh and play. Try to keep your happy colors inside the bold black lines.

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print on standard A4 or Letter-sized paper. To make the scene feel more like a park, you could print it on light green or light blue paper, but printing on white ensures the child has full creative control over the colors. Ensure 'fit to page' is selected to get the full, edge-to-edge experience.

Recommended Tools

This page is perfect for a classic box of crayons. The large areas of the tree and hill are satisfying to fill in, and the character details are simple enough for a crayon tip. This is a great opportunity to practice holding a crayon correctly and coloring in one direction within the large, outlined shapes.
