Coloring page story

The best ride for a Stegosaurus was, of course, the Stegosaurus seesaw. It had a long, sturdy back and comfy seats shaped just like the plates on Steggy’s own back. Today, Steggy wanted to play on it all by himself.

He climbed on one side. Thump. That side went down to the ground. The other side went way up in the air. He couldn't move. He waddled to the middle and tried to balance. Wibble-wobble. It was no use.

Just then, Tilly the Triceratops trotted over. "Can I play, Steggy?" she asked.

"I'm playing on my own today," Steggy said, feeling a little possessive. It was a Stegosaurus seesaw, after all.

"Oh," said Tilly, looking disappointed.

Steggy tried again. He pushed on the ground with his foot, but the seesaw just stayed stubbornly still. He grunted. This wasn't fun at all. He watched Tilly sadly drawing circles in the dirt with her horn. He looked at the empty seat high in the air, then at his friend on the ground.

A thought slowly formed in his head. "Tilly?" he called out. "Maybe... maybe it works better with two."

Tilly's face lit up. She scurried onto the other seat. Thump! Her side went down, and Steggy's side went up, up, up into the air! "Whee!" he cried out in surprise.

Then Tilly pushed off with her feet. WHOOSH! Her side went up and Steggy's went down. Down and up, up and down. They were laughing together, their giggles mixing in the air. The seesaw was much, much more fun with a friend. Steggy learned that some things, especially seesaws, aren't meant for just one.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The playful, action-oriented scene is very engaging for 3-5 year olds. The large, distinct shapes of the dinosaurs and the seesaw are easy for small hands to navigate with crayons or markers, building confidence in their coloring abilities.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Whee! Look at them go up and down! It's time to make this seesaw super colorful. You can make each seat on the seesaw a different color, like a rainbow! What color will you make Steggy, who is way up high? And what about Tilly, who is down low? You can make the whole picture bright and happy, just like their game!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print this page in landscape orientation to give the long seesaw plenty of room. This can also make it feel more like a real, wide-open playground to your little artist. Use regular office paper for crayons, or thicker paper for markers.

Recommended Tools

A big box of crayons is perfect for this page, offering lots of choices for the seesaw seats and dinosaurs. Using different colors for each section can be a fun way to practice color recognition. Always supervise young children with small art supplies like crayon pieces.
