Coloring page story
The volcano-sandbox was Rexy's domain. With his big, strong feet, he could pile up sand higher than anyone. Today, he was building the most epic sandcastle ever. He wanted it to be all his. "This is my castle," he announced, putting a big leaf on top as a flag.
Tilly came over with a pretty, swirly shell. "Can I add a window?" she asked.
"No," Rexy huffed. "It's my castle."
Steggy arrived with a row of smooth, flat pebbles. "This could be a path to the door," he suggested.
"No path!" Rexy growled, guarding his sand-mound. "Mine!"
His friends, looking sad, went to play in another part of the sandbox. Rexy continued to build. He made the walls higher and the tower taller. But it felt... quiet. There was no one to say "Wow, Rexy!" There was no one to help him find the perfect flag-leaf. His giant, amazing castle felt lonely.
He looked over at his friends. Tilly and Steggy were building a small, wobbly castle together, decorated with shells and pebbles. They were laughing.
Rexy's shoulders slumped. He stomped over to them. "Your castle is nice," he mumbled.
"You can help if you want," Tilly offered kindly.
Rexy looked from their happy little castle back to his big, lonely one. He had an idea. "No," he said. "You can help me. My castle needs windows. And a path. And... and friends."
Their faces brightened. Together, they all went to Rexy's castle. Tilly carefully placed her shell-windows. Steggy laid his pebble path. Pippa flew down and added a bright red feather to the very top. It wasn't just Rexy's castle anymore. It was their castle. And it was the best, most magnificent, and happiest castle the volcano-sandbox had ever seen.
