Coloring page story
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter. Raindrops fell on the giant leaves outside. The Dinosaur Playground was shiny and wet, and no one could go out to play. All the little dinosaurs were crowded in a cozy cave, but they weren't feeling cozy. They were feeling bored.
"I want to go on the swings," whined Pippa, staring at the rain.
"I want to dig in the volcano-sandbox," grumbled Rexy.
"I miss the seesaw," sighed Steggy.
They all sat in a gloomy pile. It felt like the fun was all outside and they were stuck inside.
Tilly, who was usually the quietest, suddenly had an idea. Her eyes twinkled. "What if," she said softly, "the playground came in here?"
The others looked at her, confused.
"Look!" she said, pointing at Rexy. "Rexy, you can be the slide! Lie down and stick your tail in the air." Rexy, intrigued, did as she said. Thump! His long tail made a perfect little slide. Tilly slid down with a happy "Wee!"
Pippa got the idea. She flapped her arms. "I can be the swings! Hold my hands!" Steggy and Tilly held her hands and she gently swung them back and forth.
Steggy lay down on his side. "My back can be the bumpy jungle gym!" he announced. The others carefully climbed over his bony plates. Climb, climb, balance!
They played for hours, pretending to be their favorite rides. The cave was no longer boring; it was filled with laughter and imagination. When the rain finally stopped and the sun came out, they were almost sad to leave their indoor playground. They had learned that the best fun doesn't always come from a place, but from their own wonderful ideas.

Soft pastels or chalk could be a wonderful medium for this page. They can be smudged to give the cave a soft, cozy texture. If using chalk, be sure to do it on a surface that's easy to wipe down and spray the finished artwork with a fixative (like hairspray, with adult help) to prevent smearing.
