Coloring page story
The Triceratops roundabout was usually the source of the happiest shrieks in the playground. Its three horns were perfect handles for pushing. Push, push, push... Whee! But today, the roundabout was silent.
When Rexy tried to push it, it made a terrible noise. "SQUEAK-SCREECH-SQUEAK!"
"Ouch, my ears!" yelped Tilly.
"That sounds grumpy," added Steggy. No one wanted to play on the grumpy-sounding roundabout.
Pippa the Pterodactyl landed beside it. She was curious. "What's making that noise?" she wondered. The others shrugged. Pippa decided to investigate. She walked around the roundabout, listening closely. Squeak... She put her ear near the bottom. SCREECH... The sound was coming from right in the middle, where the roundabout spun on a big stone.
She peered underneath. Tucked into the spinning part was a little, dry leaf, all curled up and stuck. "Aha!" she chirped. "I found the problem!"
She tried to get it with her beak, but she couldn't quite reach. "Rexy, can you try to push it just a little bit?" she asked. Rexy gave the roundabout a tiny, gentle nudge. The leaf moved. Pippa stretched her neck and, with the very tip of her beak, she plucked the dry leaf out.
"Try it now!" she said proudly.
Rexy gave the roundabout a big push. It spun around smoothly and silently, with only the happy sound of the wind. Whoosh! Soon everyone was piling on, laughing and spinning. Pippa felt very clever. She had solved the mystery of the squeak not with strength, but with a little bit of curiosity and a careful look.
