Coloring page story
Beginning:
Sherlock Crumbs was a gingerbread detective, complete with a tiny icing magnifying glass. He wasn't trying to escape; he was on a case. Young Tom was crying because the shiny silver bell, the one that had been on his family’s tree since his grandpa was a boy, was missing. "It's vanished!" Tom wailed. Sherlock, from his plate, knew that things don't just vanish. They are moved. His mission: to find the bell.
Middle:
He slipped off the plate and followed a trail of faint, shimmering dust only a detective cookie could see. The trail led under the sofa. It was a dusty, dark world full of forgotten toys and fluffy dust bunnies. A-choo! A tiny cinnamon sneeze escaped him. He saw something glinting behind a toy car. It was the bell! But how did it get here? Just then, a tiny mouse with whiskers twitching nervously popped out. The mouse squeaked, "I'm sorry! It was just so shiny, and my babies love the sound." The mouse nudged the bell, which made a soft, muffled tinkle.
End:
Sherlock Crumbs understood. The mouse didn't mean to be a thief. He had an idea. He nudged the bell with all his might, rolling it out from under the sofa. TINKLE, TINKLE, TINKLE! Tom heard it. "The bell!" he shouted, overjoyed. When he reached for it, he saw Sherlock Crumbs covered in dust. He also saw the little mouse peeking out. Understanding, Tom smiled. He put the silver bell back on the tree, then found a little jingle bell from a craft box and rolled it under the sofa for the mouse family. Tom placed Sherlock Crumbs in a place of honor on the mantelpiece. "To my favorite detective," he whispered. Sherlock felt proud. He had solved the case not with judgment, but with kindness.
