Coloring page story

Crystal was a snowflake with a question. In fact, she had a million questions. As she floated in her cloud, she heard the Winter Wind whisper a word: "Christmas." What was a Christmas? Was it a type of cloud? A special kind of star? She just had to find out. "I'm going on an investigation!" she announced to her friends.

As she began her gentle drift downward, she kept her eyes wide open for clues. Swish! She landed first on the dark green needle of a pine tree. "Aha!" she thought. "Christmas must be pointy and smell like the forest!" But then the wind lifted her again. Woosh! She floated on, until she landed on the wet, black nose of a reindeer drinking from a trough. The reindeer snorted a steamy breath. "Oh!" Crystal realized. "Christmas is warm and fuzzy and has antlers!" But again, the wind carried her away. Her last stop was a cold, clear windowpane.

Peeking through the glass, Crystal saw it all. There was a pointy, forest-smelling tree inside, covered in lights. There were fuzzy sweaters on a family laughing together. She saw tiny reindeer figurines on the mantelpiece. And she heard them say, "Merry Christmas!" Crystal finally understood. Christmas wasn't just one thing. It was all of it: the pointy trees, the warm feelings, the happy families, and the magic that brought it all together. And she, a tiny snowflake, was part of the beautiful Christmas picture.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The Picture Book Style provides a clear narrative that children aged 6-8 can easily follow. The composition, with its foreground and background elements, introduces a simple concept of perspective, while the large, distinct shapes within the scene are perfectly suited to their coloring abilities.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

What a cozy scene Crystal has found! You get to color both the outside and the inside. What color will you make the Christmas tree? You can color each ornament a different color of the rainbow! The fireplace can be warm red and orange, and don't forget our little detective, Crystal, on the window. Maybe she is a sparkly light blue!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

This page has some lovely details inside the window. To make sure they are clear, print on a smooth, bright white paper. Setting your printer to a 'high' or 'best' quality will ensure the lines of the ornaments and figurines are sharp and easy to color.

Recommended Tools

Colored pencils are excellent for this page, allowing for precision on the smaller ornaments and reindeer figurines. Fine-tip markers would also work well for creating vibrant, distinct areas of color. Crayons are great for the larger areas like the tree and fireplace.
