Coloring page story
All the snowflakes in Patch's cloud had six perfect, pointy arms. They looked like tiny, icy stars. But Patch... well, Patch was a little different. One of his six arms was shorter and a bit crooked. "You're a bit lopsided, Patch," another snowflake, Glimmer, pointed out. Patch tried to hide his wonky arm, feeling clumsy and plain. He didn't feel special enough to be a Christmas snowflake.
When the time came to fall, Patch tried to stay behind. But the wind had other ideas. He tumbled and spun, trying to keep his lopsided arm tucked in. He felt sure everyone was staring. He landed in a fluffy drift and buried himself, hoping no one would see him. Just then, a little girl with bright blue boots ran outside. "Snow!" she cheered. She was making paper snowflakes, folding the paper carefully and snipping with her scissors. She made one, then another. They were all perfect.
Then, the girl's hand slipped. Snip! She accidentally cut one of the points on her paper snowflake too short. "Oh, no," she said at first. But then she looked closer and smiled. "It's not ruined," she whispered. "It's unique. It's my special, lopsided snowflake. I'll put it right at the top of the tree!" She ran inside, and Patch watched through the window as she hung the imperfect paper snowflake in a place of honor. Patch wiggled out of the snowdrift. He wasn't lopsided; he was unique. And being unique was something to be proud of, especially at Christmas.
Coloring page Age Appropriateness
The Expressive Cartoon style helps children aged 6-8 easily read the emotions of the characters—the girl's joy and Patch's happy realization. The large, simple shapes of the characters and the snowdrift are easy to color, building confidence.
Coloring Page Coloring Instructions
This is such a happy picture! You can make the little girl's winter coat your favorite color. Look at her special paper snowflake—it's just like Patch! You can color them both with the same beautiful blue or silver. Can you give the snow a little bit of light blue shadow at the bottom to make it look extra fluffy?
Coloring Page Printing Tips
Print on standard 8.5x11 inch paper. This design doesn't have tiny details, so a 'normal' print quality is perfectly fine and will save ink while still giving you great, solid lines for coloring.
Recommended Tools
Broad-tip washable markers will make the girl's coat and boots pop with color. Crayons are perfect for the soft, fluffy snowdrifts. For the snowflakes, a glitter glue pen (with supervision!) could add a wonderful, unique sparkle after the coloring is done.
