Coloring page story
With the toys sorted and the reindeer munching happily, the next task was wrapping. But the automatic wrapping machine was in a terrible state. An elf had sneezed glitter-glue into its gears, and now it only spat out sticky, tangled messes of paper and ribbon.
SQUELCH! SPURT! FZZZT! A giant, sticky ball of red paper and gold ribbon shot out and stuck to the ceiling.
“Oh, chestnuts on an open fire!” Santa exclaimed. “How will we wrap all these presents?”
The elves looked defeated. They tried to wrap by hand, but their fingers were clumsy from the Glimmer-flu, and they kept getting stuck in the tape.
Lily looked at the plain rolls of brown paper sitting in the corner. An idea sparked in her mind, as bright as a Christmas light. “We don’t need the machine,” she said. “We can make our own wrapping paper!”
She took a roll of brown paper and a pot of red paint. She dipped her finger in the paint and drew a simple, happy star. Then she drew a wobbly Christmas tree. Pip the elf saw what she was doing and, with a jingly hiccup, dipped his finger in green paint and drew a squiggly line.
Soon, Santa and the less-sneezy elves joined in, painting snowflakes, candy canes, and smiley faces all over the paper. The workshop was filled with laughter. The presents wrapped in Lily’s hand-painted paper looked even more special than the shiny, machine-wrapped ones. They were wrapped with care and a whole lot of love.
Coloring page Age Appropriateness
The doodle style is perfect for ages 3-5 because it mirrors their own drawing style, which is liberating and encourages creativity without pressure. The large, clear subject (the wrapping paper) provides a perfect canvas for them to add their own 'doodles' and colors.
