Coloring page story
Christmas wasn’t just about toys; it was about the reindeer! But when Santa and Lily went to the stables, they found eight very grumpy reindeer. Dasher was stomping his hoof. STOMP! STOMP! Blitzen was sighing big, cloudy breaths into the cold air.
“What’s the matter with them?” Lily whispered.
“The elves usually sing them their special ‘Flying Songs’ while they eat,” Santa explained. “But today, all they can do is hiccup jingles. It’s putting the reindeer off their oats!”
Sure enough, Pip the elf tried to sing, but it came out: “Oh, the weather outside is—Hic-JINGLE!—so frightful—Hic-JINGLE!”
The lead reindeer, Donner, just turned his back and grumbled. He wouldn't eat his magical lichen, which gave him the power of flight.
Lily felt sad for the grumpy reindeer. She thought about what her mom sang to her when she was feeling sad. She walked slowly towards Donner, her small hand outstretched. “It’s okay,” she said softly. Then, she began to sing, her voice quiet and sweet.
“Twinkle, twinkle, little star… How I wonder what you are…”
Donner’s ears twitched. He turned his big head and looked at her with his dark, gentle eyes. He stopped grumbling. The other reindeer grew quiet, listening. Lily kept singing, and soon, Donner took a small nibble of his food. Then another.
Santa watched, a wide smile spreading across his face. Lily hadn't used magic. She had used kindness. And sometimes, a simple, gentle song is the most powerful magic of all.
