Coloring page story
The next problem was the toy-making machine. It was a marvelous contraption of swirling pipes and clanking gears, but a glitter-sneeze from an elf named Fizzle had made it go haywire!
CLUNK! WHIZZ! BONG! The machine spat out a doll with truck wheels and a spinning top with a teddy bear’s head. A toy train chugged out, but instead of a chimney, it had a doll’s bottle on top.
“Oh, fiddlesticks!” Santa groaned, holding the mixed-up train. The elves were too dizzy to figure it out.
Lily looked at the muddle. It was silly, but it was also a puzzle. She remembered her own toy box. “Wait!” she said. “The train needs its chimney back. And the doll needs her legs, not wheels.”
She went to the big box of spare parts. She couldn’t reach the machine’s buttons, but she could hand the right parts to Santa. “This one for the doll,” she said, holding up two doll legs. “And this one for the train!” she said, finding a little red funnel.
Santa, following Lily’s clear instructions, carefully fed the parts back into the machine’s ‘un-jumble’ hatch. WHIRR! CLICK! POP! Out came a perfect doll, and a beautiful toy train that went CHOO-CHOO!
The elves cheered, a chorus of weak but happy sounds. Lily giggled. She had fixed the mixed-up toys! Santa patted her head. “Lily, you are a wonderful apprentice!”
Coloring page Age Appropriateness
The use of blocky, geometric shapes is ideal for ages 3-5. It simplifies complex objects like a machine into recognizable forms (circles, squares) that are easy for young children to identify and color. The large, distinct sections help develop hand-eye coordination.

Coloring Page Printing Tips
This page has very bold lines, so it will print well even on a 'draft' or 'eco' setting to save ink. Use standard copy paper, and it will be a perfect canvas for crayons or colored pencils.
Recommended Tools
Crayon blocks or large triangular crayons are excellent for this age as they promote a proper grip. They are perfect for filling in the large, geometric shapes in this drawing. Stickers could also be a fun addition to 'decorate' the machine after coloring!
