Coloring page story
The final touch for the sleigh was polishing the giant, silver sleigh bells. They had to ring with pure Christmas magic to part the clouds and guide the sleigh. But a sleepy elf had made a mistake. He had polished them with ‘Snooze-Spray’ instead of ‘Sparkle-Shine’.
When Santa shook the bells, they didn't go JINGLE-JANGLE-JING. They made a dull, sleepy sound. thump-thump-thud.
“Oh, my sugarplums!” Santa cried. “The bells are asleep! They have no magic!”
How could they wake them up? They tried polishing them again, but it was no use. The sleepy magic was too strong.
Lily looked at the sad, silent bells. Then she looked over at Pip, who was still letting out the occasional “Hic-JINGLE!” A funny idea popped into her head. “Santa,” she said, “maybe one magic can fix another magic!”
She led Pip over to the sleigh. “Pip, can you try to hiccup right at the biggest bell?”
Pip took a deep breath and… “Hic-JINGLE!” A tiny, magical sound wave floated from his mouth and touched the silver bell. The bell shivered and let out a faint ting.
“It’s working!” Santa bellowed. He gathered five more hiccupping elves. “Ready, elves? On the count of three! One… two… THREE!”
“Hic-JINGLE! Hic-JANGLE! Hic-JINGLE-POP!”
A chorus of magical hiccups washed over the sleigh bells. Suddenly, they began to glow. Santa picked them up and gave them a shake. JINGLE-JANGLE-JING! JING-JING-JINGLE! The sound was back, louder and more magical than ever! Lily’s silly idea had worked perfectly.

The exaggerated expressions are very easy for young children (3-5) to read and understand, clearly conveying the fun and silly mood. The action is dynamic but simple, and the large, central bell is a satisfyingly large shape to color.
