Coloring page story
Character: Petunia was a gentle, creative turkey with feathers as soft as a whisper. Her greatest wish was to give a beautiful Christmas gift, but she worried she had nothing to give.
Beginning:
Everyone on the farm was getting ready for the Christmas gift exchange. The sheep offered warm wool, the cow offered creamy milk, and the chickens offered perfect brown eggs. Petunia watched, her wattle drooping. “Oh, gobble,” she sighed. “What can a turkey give? I don’t have wool or milk or eggs.” She felt plain and unimportant.
Middle:
Feeling sad, Petunia wandered into the pine forest at the edge of the farm. The ground was dusted with snow, and the air was crisp and clean. She looked down and saw a perfect pinecone, shaped like a tiny Christmas tree. An idea sparked in her creative mind. She found a bright red berry and carefully wedged it at the very top, like a star. She found glittery frost on a leaf and gently brushed it over the pinecone's scales. Swish, sparkle! She found a piece of shiny green moss and wrapped it around the bottom like a tree skirt.
Ending:
At the gift exchange, Petunia shyly presented her gift to Farmer Giles. He took the little pinecone in his big, gentle hands. “Why, Petunia,” he said, his voice full of wonder. “This is the most beautiful, perfect little Christmas tree I have ever seen.” He placed it right in the center of the mantelpiece, where everyone could admire it. Petunia’s heart swelled with pride. She learned that the best gifts don’t come from what you have, but from the love and imagination you put into making them.
