Coloring page story
Character: Gobbles was a detective turkey. He was observant, thoughtful, and had a very sensitive beak for sniffing out clues. His motivation was to solve problems, big or small.
Beginning:
Inside the warm farmhouse kitchen, the air smelled of cinnamon and sugar. Mrs. Farmer had just baked a plate of gingerbread people and left them on the low windowsill to cool. Sniff, sniff. Gobbles peeked through the window. One, two, three, four, five perfect gingerbread people! But when he looked again after chasing a runaway leaf, there were only four! “A mystery!” Gobbles gobbled with excitement.
Middle:
Gobbles put on his imaginary detective hat. First clue: a trail of tiny crumbs leading away from the window. He followed them with a serious tippity-tap, tippity-tap of his feet. The trail led behind a big flowerpot. There, he found the second clue: a single, tiny grey whisker. “Aha!” he whispered. This was no giant cookie monster. This was someone very small. The crumb trail continued towards the old barn. Gobbles felt a shiver of excitement. What would he find?
Ending:
He peeked around the barn door. There, huddled in a pile of straw, was a tiny field mouse named Squeaky, nibbling on the gingerbread man’s leg. But Squeaky wasn't happy; he looked very sad. “I’m sorry,” the mouse squeaked, his ears drooping. “My family is so hungry, and it smelled so good.” Gobbles’s detective heart melted. He hadn’t found a thief; he’d found a friend in need. He gently nudged the rest of the cookie towards the mouse. Then he ran to the corn shed, pecked a few loose kernels onto a big leaf, and carried it to the mouse family. The mystery was solved, not with a scolding, but with sharing. Gobbles learned that sometimes, the solution to a mystery is simply kindness.
