Coloring page story
Character: Tilly was a small turkey with big ideas. Her feathers were the color of warm cocoa, and her heart was full of Christmas sparkle. She wanted, more than anything, to help.
Beginning:
On a snowy Christmas Eve morning, Tilly watched the farmer’s children, Lily and Tom, decorating a big pine tree. “Ooooh,” Tilly gobbled softly, her eyes wide at the shiny red and gold baubles. “So pretty!” But her favorite things were the lights. When Lily plugged them in, they blinked to life—twinkle, twinkle, twinkle! Tilly wiggled her tail feathers. “I want to make something twinkle, too!”
Middle:
Seeing a small string of lights left on the porch, Tilly had a grand idea. She grabbed the end with her beak and started to pull it towards a little evergreen bush. But the string was long and heavy! It slipped and swooshed down, landing right on top of her! Suddenly, Tilly was in a terrible tangle. The green wire was looped around her wings and twisted around her feet. “Oh, gobble-gook!” she chirped, feeling trapped and a little bit silly. She tried to step, but she could only wobble. The more she wiggled, the tighter the tangle became. A little tear of frustration welled in her eye.
Ending:
Lily saw the wiggling, blinking pile of turkey. She didn't scold Tilly. She giggled! “Oh, Tilly! You look like a Christmas decoration yourself!” Very gently, Lily knelt in the snow and began to unwind the lights. “There you go, little turkey,” she said softly. Tilly felt so relieved. Then, Lily had a wonderful idea. “You were right, Tilly. This little bush needs some sparkle.” Together, Lily held the lights while Tilly, with her beak, carefully draped them over the lowest branches—the ones she could reach perfectly. When they finished, they stood back. The little bush blinked red, and green, and blue. It was the most beautiful bush on the whole farm. Tilly puffed out her chest, her heart twinkling just as brightly as the lights she had helped to hang.
Coloring page Age Appropriateness
The Chibi style, with its exaggerated cute features and rounded shapes, is highly appealing and non-threatening for ages 3-5. The large, simple shapes of the tangled christmas turkey and the lights provide easy targets for developing motor skills, preventing frustration.
