Coloring page story

Character: Barnaby was a young turkey who had never seen snow before. He was cautious and a little bit anxious about new things. His journey is about overcoming fear of the unknown.

Beginning: One morning, Barnaby woke up and the world was gone. Everything was covered in a soft, quiet, white blanket. “What is it?” he gobbled nervously to his mother. “It’s snow, my dear,” she clucked warmly. “It’s for Christmas.” Barnaby peeked out of the coop. The white stuff looked cold and strange. He did not want to step in it.

Middle: The other, older turkeys ran out into the snow with happy gobbles. They made funny tracks and slid on a patch of ice. “Come on, Barnaby!” they called. But Barnaby just shook his head and stayed on the dry straw of the doorway. What if it was too cold? What if he got stuck? A single, fluffy snowflake landed on his beak. It felt wet and tickly. He jumped back. “I don’t like it!” he declared.

Ending: His mother walked over to him. She didn't push him. She just said, “Watch this.” She gently stuck one foot into the snow, then the other. Then she took a little run and slid on her feet for a tiny bit. Whoosh! She looked back at Barnaby and gave a happy little cluck. It looked like fun. Tentatively, Barnaby put one foot out. It was cold, but also soft and crunchy. Crunch. He took another step. Crunch. He looked at the funny V-shaped tracks he made. He took a few more steps, and then, copying his mother, he took a little run and slid! He wobbled and flapped, but he didn't fall. He giggled a bubbly turkey giggle. Snow wasn’t scary at all—it was wonderful! Barnaby spent the rest of the day playing, learning that trying something new can be the best adventure of all.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The round, soft lines are visually soothing and friendly, making this style ideal for a story about overcoming anxiety for children aged 3-5. The lack of sharp corners and complex details makes it very easy for the youngest artists to color, building their confidence and making the experience purely joyful.

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print on standard letter-sized paper. This page has a lot of open white space for the snow, so encourage your child to either leave it white or experiment with light blue or silver glitter glue for a magical effect. A clean print will make the round outlines of the christmas turkey really stand out.

Recommended Tools

Jumbo crayons or paint sticks are perfect for this page, as they allow for covering the large areas of snow easily and match the soft, broad style of the illustration. They are also easy for the smallest hands to hold and control.
