Coloring page story
Everything was ready. The sleigh stood gleaming, piled high with colorful gifts. The reindeer stamped their feet, eager to fly. The elves, feeling much better after their cocoa and cards, waved from the workshop door.
“Well, Apprentice Lily,” Santa said, his voice full of warmth and pride. “Christmas is saved. And it’s all thanks to you.” He pinned a tiny, shiny gold star onto her pajamas. “For my First Honorary Apprentice.”
Lily’s heart felt like it could fly all on its own. “But… how will I get home?” she asked, a little sadly.
“You’ll have the best seat in the house,” Santa chuckled, lifting her into the sleigh, right beside him.
With a shout of “Now Dasher, now Dancer…!” and a magical JINGLE-JANGLE-JING!, the sleigh rose into the air. It was amazing! They soared over the world, a blanket of twinkling lights below. It was faster than a blink, quieter than a whisper.
Santa stopped the sleigh high above a familiar-looking roof. “Your stop, my dear,” he said softly. The same magical, peppermint-scented wind gently lifted her from the sleigh and floated her down, down, down, right back through her bedroom window and into her cozy bed.
When Lily woke up on Christmas morning, she wondered if it had all been a dream. But then, she felt something on her pillow. It wasn't the gold star pin. It was a single, silver bell. When she shook it, it made the most beautiful, magical sound she had ever heard. And she knew, deep in her heart, that she would always be Santa’s apprentice.
Coloring page Age Appropriateness
The scene is a classic, joyful image that is easy for a 3-5 year old to understand. The repetitive shapes of the stars are great for practicing coloring small, contained areas, while the large sleigh offers a satisfyingly big space to fill with color. The overall composition is balanced and magical.
Coloring Page Coloring Instructions
Wow, you're flying in Santa's sleigh! Let's make it a beautiful night. You can color the sleigh a bright, shiny red. What color are the stars? Yellow, white, or maybe even rainbow! Don't forget to color the big smiling moon. You can give Lily and Santa warm hats for their chilly ride. What an adventure!
Coloring Page Printing Tips
For the best starry night effect, print this on dark blue construction paper if your printer can handle it. Then your child can use white, yellow, or metallic crayons/pencils to make the stars and moon pop! Otherwise, standard white paper works great.
