Coloring page story

While digging for delicious roots near the edge of the forest, Beatrice Badger's paw hit something hard. Clink. It wasn't a stone. She brushed away the soil and unearthed a beautiful silver locket, shaped like a heart, hanging from a red ribbon. When she picked it up, it played a tiny, tinkling song. Ting-a-ling-a-ling. "Oh, my," she whispered. It was the loveliest thing she had ever seen. She took it back to her cozy sett and hung it on a twig. It made her whole home feel magical. A part of her wanted to keep it forever. But another, bigger part of her knew someone was missing this beautiful music. The next day, she put a little sign outside her sett: "FOUND: ONE MUSICAL HEART." She waited. Soon, a family of field mice scurried by. "Is it yours?" she asked, playing the tune. "No, our ornaments are all made of cheese," they squeaked and ran on. Later, Finley Fox trotted past. "Is this lovely locket yours, Finley?" she asked. "Nope," he said. "My ornament jingles, it doesn't tinkle." Just as the sun began to set, a very sad-looking little girl in a red coat wandered by the edge of the woods with her father. Beatrice heard the girl say, "But it was Grandma's. It played our song." Beatrice's heart gave a leap. She shuffled out of her sett, holding the locket. "Excuse me," she said shyly. "Does your song go... ting-a-ling-a-ling?" The little girl's eyes went wide. "My locket!" she cried. She was so happy, she gave Beatrice a hug—and a biscuit from her pocket. Beatrice knew then that the joy of returning something precious was an even better feeling than keeping it.
