Coloring page story

"Look, Sheldon!" Olly Otter called to his turtle friend. "Look at my perfect shell!" He held up the beautiful, swirling seashell ornament, ready to hang it on the weeping willow by the riverbank. It shimmered in the sun. He was so proud, he did a little water-somersault out of pure joy. SPLASH! The shell slipped from his wet paws and disappeared into the fast-flowing river. "My shell!" Olly cried, diving after it. But the river was too quick. Swish, swoosh, gurgle. The shell was gone. Olly sat on the riverbank, his sleek fur drooping. Sheldon the turtle sat beside him. "It's gone," Olly sniffled. "And it was perfect." They looked for the rest of the day. As the sun set, Sheldon, who was looking near some rocks, said, "Olly... I think I found it." Wedged between two big stones was the shell. Olly joyfully retrieved it, but his face fell. There was a tiny chip on the edge where it had hit the rocks. "It's ruined," he whispered. "It's not perfect anymore." Sheldon looked at the shell. He looked at the chip. "You know," the old turtle said slowly, "that chip wasn't there this morning. That chip has a story. It's the story of a happy somersault and a big adventure down the river. Maybe," he said, "it's even more special now." Olly looked at the tiny chip. Sheldon was right. It wasn't just a perfect shell anymore. It was his shell, with his story. He hung it proudly on the willow branch. The setting sun caught the little chip, and for a moment, it sparkled brighter than all the rest.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness
