Coloring page story

Percy Penguin polished his ice-block table. Everything was perfect for his party. All that was left was to hang his favourite ornament: a beautiful, glittery, white snowflake. He opened his ornament box. It wasn't there. "Oh, flippers!" he squawked. He looked on the shelf. He looked under his seaweed mat. He checked the ice-box. Nothing. "But it has to be here! It's white and sparkly! You can't miss something white and sparkly!" His best friend, Puffin, arrived. "What's wrong, Percy? You look like you've lost your favourite fish-cake." "Worse! I've lost my snowflake ornament!" Percy wailed. "It's white and glittery, and it's just... gone!" Puffin tilted his head. "Hmm. Your igloo wall is made of snow. Which is white. And when the sun shines on it, it gets... glittery." Percy stopped. He stared at the wall of his igloo. He had been looking for the snowflake. He hadn't been looking at the wall. And there, perfectly blended against a block of compacted snow, was the snowflake. Its glitter was mixing with the glitter of the ice crystals. It was the best hiding spot in the entire world! Percy waddled over and gently plucked it off the wall. He and Puffin burst out laughing. "Sometimes," Puffin chirped, "the thing you're looking for is right in front of your beak!"

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The blocky style is extremely accessible for toddlers and preschoolers. The large, simple shapes are easy to fill with color, building confidence. The 'hidden object' element is engaging and appropriate for the developing cognitive skills of a 3-5 year old.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Where is that snowflake? Percy needs your help! First, let's give Percy and Puffin their colors. Penguins are usually black and white, but you can make them any silly color you want! The igloo wall is made of ice, so it could be a cool blue or you can leave it white. Now... look very closely at the wall. Can you find the hidden snowflake shape? When you find it, you can color it a special, sparkly color to make it stand out!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print this on bright white paper to make the black lines really pop. This will also help the 'camouflaged' snowflake be easier to spot. Standard paper and print settings are perfectly fine for this simple and bold design.

Recommended Tools

Washable markers are great for this page, as their bright colors will make the characters stand out against the igloo wall. Chunky crayons are also a perfect choice for little hands to fill in all the ice blocks.
