Coloring page story

Gus the Ankylosaurus was in charge of the concert decorations. He had a strong, clubbed tail that was perfect for hammering signs into the ground. WHACK! But today, Gus was grumpy. A spiky vine had scratched his nose, his favorite patch of moss was soggy, and he just wanted to be alone. "Hmph," he grumbled, pushing a sparkly rock with his snout. A tiny, speedy Velociraptor named Velo zipped past. "Hi, Gus! The decorations look great! Do you need any help?" Gus just grunted and turned his back, showing Velo his tough, armored shell. "I don't need help," he mumbled. But secretly, he did. He couldn't reach the high branches to hang the glowing moon-vines. He tried to climb a small rock, but his short legs wobbled, and he slid off with a thump. He felt even grumpier now, and a little bit embarrassed. Velo saw the whole thing. Instead of laughing, she zipped up the tree trunk in a flash. "How about I hang them if you tell me where they go?" she asked cheerfully. Gus looked at the tangled vines, then at the helpful little dinosaur. His grumpiness started to melt away like morning mist. "Okay," he said, and a small smile appeared on his face. They worked together, Gus pointing with his snout and Velo zipping and tying. Soon, the stage was glowing beautifully. Gus learned that sharing a problem can make a grumpy day feel much, much better.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The design is well-suited for ages 3-5. The story of helping is shown clearly through the characters' actions. The contrast in size and shape between Gus and Velo is visually interesting. The large circles of the 'moon-vines' are fun and simple shapes to color.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Look at these two friends working as a team! Gus is on the ground, and Velo is in the tree. Can you color Gus's strong, bumpy back with an earthy color like brown or gray? For Velo, you could use a fast color like green or yellow! The round 'moon-vines' could be a bright, glowing color!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print this page on a matte photo paper or light cardstock to give it a 'picture book' feel. This will also make a nice, sturdy piece of art for your child to display on the fridge to celebrate their coloring and the theme of teamwork.

Recommended Tools

A mix of tools would be great here. Crayons for the large areas like Gus's back and the tree trunk, and fine-tipped markers for the smaller Velo and the details on the moon-vines. This encourages kids to choose the right tool for the job!
