Coloring page story
Maya was a whisper of a girl. She loved animals more than anything, but she was too shy to talk to the other children at the Christmas fair. She preferred to stand behind her father’s legs, watching the fluffy sheep in their pen.
One little lamb, smaller than the rest, kept bleating sadly. Baa, baa, baa! Its sound was thin and worried. As Maya watched, she saw a tiny silver bell tied to the pen’s gate with a red ribbon. It seemed to hum just for her.
Drawn by a curiosity that was bigger than her shyness, she reached out and gently rang it. CHIME!
The world didn't change, but something new happened. The little lamb’s bleat wasn't just a "baa" anymore. In her head, she heard a tiny, woolly voice. “I’m so cold! My mother’s on the other side and I can’t find her!”
Maya’s eyes went wide. She looked around. A big, woolly ewe was anxiously nudging the far side of the pen, looking for her baby. The other children were laughing and shouting, too loud to notice.
Maya’s heart beat fast. She had to do something! Forgetting to be shy, she tugged on her father's coat. “Daddy,” she said, her voice louder than a whisper. “That lamb is lost from its mommy. We have to help!”
Her father, surprised by her clear voice, followed her pointing finger. He saw the little lamb shivering and the frantic mother. “You’re right, sweetie.” He spoke to the farmer, who quickly opened a small gate inside the pen. The little lamb scurried through, nuzzling right into its mother’s warm wool.
The lamb’s happy bleat now sounded like a warm “Thank you, thank you!” in Maya’s mind. She looked at the silver bell, then at the happy children playing nearby. One of them waved at her. This time, instead of hiding, Maya gave a small, brave wave back. The bell’s magic hadn’t just let her hear a lamb; it had helped her find her own voice.
