Coloring page story
Tilly the Triceratops loved the Dinosaur Playground. She loved the ferny jungle gym and the bouncy mushroom trampolines. But there was one thing she had never, ever done. She had never been on the Big Slide. It wasn't just any slide; it was the long, long neck of Bronte the Brontosaurus, stretching all the way up to the puffy white clouds.
"Come on, Tilly!" roared her best friend, Rexy the T-Rex, his little arms waving with excitement. "It's the best!"
Tilly shook her head, her frill wobbling. "It's... it's too high," she whispered, her tummy feeling like a fizzy drink. She watched Rexy scramble up the ladder on Bronte's back. He gave a happy roar and—WHOOSH!—he slid all the way down, landing in the soft sand with a happy thump.
Tilly hid behind a giant leaf. She wanted to be brave like Rexy, but her little legs felt stuck to the ground. Rexy trotted over, his big head tilted. "Are you scared?" he asked, his voice suddenly much softer.
Tilly nodded, a tiny tear rolling down her cheek. "My tummy feels wobbly."
"My tummy feels wobbly sometimes, too," Rexy admitted. "But you know what helps? Holding a friend's hand." He held out his little two-fingered hand. "We can be brave together. I'll go slow."
Tilly looked at Rexy's kind eyes and his small, waiting hand. She took a deep breath and put her hand in his. Step, step, step, they climbed the ladder together. At the top, the whole playground looked like a tiny toy set. Tilly squeezed her eyes shut.
"Ready?" Rexy whispered. "One... two... three... WHOOSH!"
The wind tickled Tilly's face! It wasn't scary at all; it was wonderful! Her tummy wasn't wobbly anymore, it was full of happy flutters! They landed in the sand with a soft bump. Tilly opened her eyes and a huge giggle bubbled out.
"Again!" she squealed, grabbing Rexy's hand. "Let's do it again!" And from that day on, the Big, Brave Slide was Tilly's favorite thing in the whole playground.
