Coloring page story

Flossy was a little cloud who was usually white, round, and bouncy. But today, she felt... flat. Her motivation was simple: she wanted to feel puffy and bright again. Flossy the cloud felt gray and droopy. She wasn't floating high in the sky; she was drifting low over the garden, feeling heavy. Her friend, Robin Redbreast, flew over with a paint-by-number kit. "Maybe this will cheer you up, Flossy!" he chirped. The picture was of a fluffy white cloud in a blue sky. Flossy looked at the paints. Number 1 was Gloomy Gray. Number 2 was Bright White. Number 3 was Cheerful Blue. "I feel like Number 1," Flossy sighed, and she listlessly painted gray all over the cloud shape. It looked just as droopy as she felt. "It's no use," she whispered. "I've lost all my puff." Robin saw his friend looking so sad and knew he had to help. "Wait!" chirped Robin. "A cloud needs a happy sky to live in!" He took the brush and painted the Cheerful Blue all around Flossy’s gray painting. Swoosh, swoosh! Then he said, "And every gray cloud has a bright, white lining!" He took the Bright White paint and traced a beautiful, shiny white edge all around the gray shape. Flossy looked at the picture. The bright blue sky made the gray look less sad, and the white outline looked like the sun was peeking out from behind her. She felt a little lighter. "Maybe," she whispered, "I could add just a little bit of white." She dipped the brush in the white paint and added a few puffy dabs on top of the gray. And then a few more. Soon, her painted cloud was a beautiful, interesting mix of gray and white, and Flossy herself felt her own puffiness returning. She had learned that even on a gray day, you can find a bit of brightness.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The design is perfect for ages 3-5. The large, fluffy cloud is a simple and satisfying shape to color. The concept of tracing the 'lining' is a great pre-writing skill. The sun and bird are friendly, simple elements that add charm without cluttering the page, ensuring it's not overwhelming for young children.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Oh, Flossy the cloud is feeling a little gray. Let's help her feel better! You can color the inside of the cloud a soft gray. But look at the thick line all around the outside? That's her happy lining! Let's make it a super bright color, like white or yellow. Don't forget the cheerful, smiling sun and the little robin's red breast. A beautiful blue sky will make everyone feel happy!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

To make the 'white lining' pop, try printing this page on light gray or blue paper. When your child colors the lining with a white crayon or colored pencil, it will stand out beautifully. Use your printer's 'Normal' quality setting.

Recommended Tools

This is a great page for experimenting. Try coloring the cloud with a gray crayon, then using a white crayon for the lining. The contrast will be subtle and lovely. Markers are perfect for the bright sun and the robin. For a fun sensory experience, glue cotton balls onto the cloud after coloring!
