Rosie was a bright pink peony. Next to her grew Blanche, a creamy white peony. Rosie loved to spread her petals wide to catch the sun. But her big petals made a shadow over Blanche. "Hey! You're hogging all the sun!" Blanche grumbled one morning.

Rosie felt sad. She didn't mean to be a sun-hog. The next day, a busy bee came to visit Rosie. "Bzzz, you are so lovely and pink!" said the bee. "Thank you," said Rosie. "But my friend Blanche is sad."

The bee buzzed over to Blanche. "Bzzz, you are so beautiful and bright, like a scoop of vanilla ice cream!" Blanche giggled. She had never thought of it that way.

Unexpected Twist: Rosie learned to lean a little to the left in the morning, and Blanche learned to lean a little to the right in the afternoon. That way, they both got plenty of sun. They weren't just neighbors anymore. They were friends who knew how to share.
