Coloring page story

Silverfin was just one sardine in a school of thousands. They all moved together, flashing and turning as one giant, shimmering cloud. But Silverfin noticed a problem. A dark, gloomy cave loomed nearby, and a hungry shark often lurked there. The school was always swimming in fear.

"I have an idea," Silverfin announced to the fish nearest him. "We are small, but we are many. And we are shiny!"

The other sardines listened. "When the shark comes," Silverfin explained, "I want everyone to turn their shiniest side towards him at the very same time."

They practiced and practiced. The next time the shark drifted out of the cave, Silverfin gave the signal. In an instant, thousands of sardines flashed their silver scales. The burst of light was as bright as a camera flash! It dazzled the shark, who blinked in confusion and swam away with spots in its eyes. The sardines had turned their greatest fear into their greatest defence, all because one little fish had a bright idea.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

This style is great for ages 6-8. The concept of creating a 'flash' with star outlines is highly imaginative and fun. The large shapes of the shark and the sardine school are easy to color, while the smaller sparkle outlines offer a chance for more detailed work, providing a balanced challenge for this age group's motor skills.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Let's create a big flash of light! You can color the shark outline a dark grey or blue. For the big school of fish, you can use a silver or light grey crayon to color all the little sardine outlines. Now for the fun part! Color all the star and sparkle outlines in the brightest yellows, oranges, and whites you have to make them look like a real camera flash. Try to be careful and stay inside the little star outlines!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

To make the 'flash' effect stand out, print this on bright white paper. Ensure your printer settings are on 'high quality' to keep the outlines of the many small sardines and sparkles sharp and clear, preventing them from becoming blurry.

Recommended Tools

Fine-tip markers are perfect for the star and sparkle outlines. A silver or grey crayon would be ideal for the school of fish, as it can cover the large area smoothly. This is a great page to introduce glitter crayons or gel pens for the 'flash' to make the art extra special.
