Coloring page story
All the other little foxes in the woods had wonderful sounds. Some had loud, happy yips. Yip-Yip-YIP! Some had cute little barks. Arf-Arf!
But when Finbar the Fox tried to yip, only a tiny little squeak came out. eep. The other foxes didn't mean to be mean, but sometimes they giggled. Finbar felt his confidence shrink down to the size of a ladybug. He decided he would never try to yip again.
One evening, a little lost lamb was crying near the woods. Baa, baa! it cried. It was lost and scared. Finbar wanted to help, to call the lamb's mother, but he was afraid to make his tiny sound.
He saw the lamb shivering. He knew he had to try. He took the biggest breath his little lungs could hold. He thought about the poor, lost lamb. He opened his mouth and tried to make the biggest YIP in the world!
The Twist: What came out wasn't a yip. It wasn't a bark. It was a beautiful, long, musical howl! Awoooooooooo! It was a sound no other fox could make. It was special. It was his. The sound traveled all the way across the meadow, and the mother sheep came running.
Finbar didn't have a yip. He had a howl. And from that day on, he was very, very proud of his unique and wonderful voice.
