Coloring page story

Maya was playing with her teddy, Barnaby. Suddenly, her friend Tom came over and snatched Barnaby away!

"Mine!" Tom said. Maya’s face felt hot and her eyes got watery. "Barnaby is sad now," she whispered to her knees.

Tom looked at the teddy. He looked at Maya's sad face. "Teddy is sad?" he asked.

Maya nodded. "He misses me."

Tom hugged the teddy, then looked at Maya again. He didn't want the teddy to be sad. He slowly walked back to Maya. "Teddy wants a hug from you," he said, holding Barnaby out.

Unexpected Twist: Maya hugged Barnaby, then she had an idea. "Barnaby has two arms," she said. "One for me… and one for you." They sat side-by-side, each holding one of Barnaby’s paws. The teddy wasn't sad or happy anymore. He was a sharing teddy.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The design is perfectly suited for the 3-5 age range. The focus on clear facial expressions helps toddlers identify and name emotions. The large shapes of the children and the central teddy bear are easy to color. This outline-only illustration supports discussions about friendship and sharing, key developmental milestones for a toddler.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Look at these two good friends sharing the teddy bear! Let's color them in. You can give Maya a pretty dress and Tom a cool t-shirt. What color is the sharing teddy? Maybe he is brown, or maybe you want to make him a rainbow teddy! Remember to use your beautiful colors to fill in all the empty white spaces. It's so nice when we share our toys!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Print on standard letter-sized paper (8.5"x11"). Ensure your printer settings are on 'black and white' to save ink and produce a clean line art page. A clear print of the bold outlines will help your toddler see the boundaries and feel successful in their coloring.

Recommended Tools

Colored pencils are great for this age as they help develop a proper pencil grip for future writing. They allow for more detailed coloring within the character outlines. Of course, chunky crayons are always a fantastic, safe choice for a toddler. Show them how to make gentle strokes to fill the empty areas.
