Once, there was a little hydrangea bush named Hattie. One day, Hattie’s flowers were a beautiful, sky-blue. A little bee named Buzzy came to visit. “Bzzz, hello blue Hattie!” he buzzed.

The next day, a little girl named Mia gave Hattie some special plant food from a pink bag. Swish, swish went the food into the soil.

The day after that, Buzzy the bee came back. He gasped. “Bzzz! Hattie! You’re not blue anymore! You’re pink!”

Hattie was surprised too! “I am? How did that happen?”

Unexpected Twist: Just then, a wise old worm wiggled up from the soil. “It wasn’t magic,” he wiggled. “It was the special pink food Mia gave you! It changed the soil, and the soil changed your color!”

Hattie and Buzzy learned that hydrangeas are special flowers that can change their color like they’re changing their clothes!
