Coloring page story

Tomos the tortoise was very proud of his honey pot. It was his prize from the summer fair. One morning, he set it on a little hill to admire it in the sun.

But a sudden breeze made the pot wobble. It tipped... and it rolled! Bump, tumble, roll! Down the hill it went.

"Oh, my pot!" cried Tomos, trying to hurry after it. But a tortoise can't hurry very much.

The pot rolled past a patch of daisies, bounced over a mushroom, and came to a stop right by the stream, where Delilah the duck was swimming. "Goodness!" quacked Delilah. "Did you lose this?" She gently nudged the honey pot back onto the grass with her beak. Tomos finally arrived, huffing and puffing. He was so happy, he shared a little drop of his honey with his helpful new friend.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The narrative quality of this scene helps children understand story sequencing. The distinct characters and objects (tortoise, duck, pot, mushroom) are easy to identify. The moderate number of elements provides a good challenge for a 4-5 year old's attention span without being overwhelming.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Oh no, the honey pot rolled away! But look, Delilah the duck found it. You can make the water a beautiful blue and the grass a happy green. Tomos the tortoise has a big shell you can color with lots of different patterns and colors! What color will you make the pretty flowers and the little mushroom? It's your adventure!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

This page has a few more elements, so printing on a slightly thicker paper (like 24 lb) can prevent colors from bleeding through if your child is using markers. Make sure the 'fit to page' option is selected to keep all the lovely details inside the margins.

Recommended Tools

A mix of crayons for the large areas like grass and water, and colored pencils for smaller details like the flowers and the patterns on Tomos's shell, would be a great combination for this page. This encourages trying different tools.
