Coloring page story

A big, red maple leaf floated down and landed right in the water trough. It looked just like a little boat. Pip watched it bobbing. "I am a brave captain!" he peeped to himself.

His ship was sailing on the big, shiny sea (the water trough). He imagined sailing to faraway lands. But how could he get on his boat?

He tried to jump, but the water was too far below. He chirped in frustration. Then, he saw a long piece of straw leaning against the trough. An idea popped into his fluffy head! It was a gangplank!

Plot Twist: He carefully walked up the straw. But just as he got to the top, a little breeze blew his leaf boat just out of reach! Oh no! But then, the same breeze blew a second, smaller green leaf right next to the straw. It was a new, smaller boat, just his size! He hopped on and floated proudly.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The concept of imaginative play is central to a 3-5 year old's development, and this scene visualizes it perfectly. The simple elements—chick, leaf, water—are easy to identify and color, making the activity achievable and fun.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Pip is the captain of his very own boat! What color is his boat? A green leaf, a red leaf, or maybe a magical rainbow leaf? You can color Pip yellow and the water a nice, wavy blue. Imagine where Captain Pip is sailing and tell a story while you color!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

This page prints well on any standard white paper. For an extra fun project, print two copies. Have your child color one, and then cut out the chick and leaf from the second copy to glue onto the first, creating a 3D effect!

Recommended Tools

Markers are great for the bold, flat colors of a cartoon adventure. Blue, green, yellow, and brown are all you need to make this chick's journey come to life. Stickers of fish or stars could also be a fun addition to the 'water'.
