Coloring page story

All of Pip's brothers and sisters could chirp loudly. CHIRP! CHEEP! But Pip's sound was a tiny, quiet peep. When the big, friendly farm dog, Rusty, came near, everyone else chirped hello. Pip tried, but his peep was lost in the noise.

He felt sad. He wanted Rusty to hear him, too. He went to a quiet corner and practiced. He took a big breath, puffed out his chest, and let out... a tiny peep. He tried again. peep.

Then, he saw a fuzzy caterpillar inching toward Mama Hen's favorite flower. He knew Mama loved that flower. He forgot about being quiet. He took the biggest breath ever and shouted, "PEEEEEEP!"

Plot Twist: The sound was so loud and sudden that the caterpillar jumped, did a little flip in the air, and landed on a different leaf. Rusty the dog turned his head, his ears perked up, and he gave Pip a happy woof! Pip had found his big voice.

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The exaggerated motion lines and puffed-up chest on the chick make the concept of a 'loud sound' easy for a 3-5 year old to grasp visually. The character expressions are simple and clear: determined chick, surprised caterpillar, and happy dog.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Pip is being so brave! Can you give him a powerful, brave color? Maybe a bright yellow or a superhero red! The flower he is protecting would look lovely in any color you choose. And don't forget to color the fuzzy caterpillar and the friendly dog, Rusty. You can make his loud 'PEEP' a rainbow!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

Use a 'fit to page' setting when printing to ensure all the fun characters—the chick, the caterpillar, and Rusty—are fully visible on the page. Standard copy paper works well for crayons and colored pencils.

Recommended Tools

Felt-tip pens would be great for making the 'sound waves' from the chick's peep really stand out. Chunky crayons are perfect for filling in the larger areas like the dog's head and the flower petals.
