Coloring page story
Old Elara was the village Storykeeper. Her memory was a treasure chest of tales. But this year, her granddaughter, Lyra, who was nearly thirteen, seemed more interested in her phone than in Elara’s stories.
“Grandma, I’ve heard the one about the Winter King a million times,” Lyra said, scrolling.
Elara’s heart ached. The stories needed a new keeper, or they would fade. On Christmas Eve, she sat Lyra down by the fire. A brilliant star shone through the window.
“I have a new story,” Elara said, her voice a soft crackle like the fire. “It’s about the Christmas Star’s Journey. But it’s a secret story.”
Lyra looked up, intrigued.
“The Star,” Elara began, “is not just one light, but a collection of all the best memories from the year. Every time someone shows kindness, that memory flies up and joins the Star, making it brighter. Every time someone is brave, or forgives someone, or shares a story… the light grows.”
She told of a boy who fixed a shepherd, and a girl who played her violin for the sky. She told of a fox who found his way home, and an inventor who found his family. Lyra put down her phone. She was listening.
“But the Star has a problem,” Elara whispered, her voice growing frail. “It gets so full of light, it needs to share it. So on Christmas Eve, it sends that light back down, as a gift. It lands in the hearts of those who are listening.” Elara looked at Lyra, her eyes full of love. “The stories aren't for me to keep, my dear. They are for you to catch.”
Lyra understood. It wasn't just a story about a star. It was a story about her and her grandmother. She took Elara’s wrinkled hand. “Tell me another one,” she said. “I’m listening.”

What color are their cozy armchairs? Through the window, color the night sky dark blue so the yellow Christmas Star can shine its brightest.
