Coloring page story
Flick the Squirrel was an artist. For Easter, he had pots of the most beautiful paints: robin's-egg blue, dandelion yellow, and clover green. He was just about to paint a swirly pattern when he turned to get more water, and when he came back... the blue pot was gone! "That's strange," he chittered. He started painting with yellow instead, but a moment later, poof! The yellow pot vanished too!
This was a mystery! Flick’s bushy tail twitched with curiosity. He looked down and saw a tiny trail of blue and yellow smudges leading away from his tree stump. Aha! A clue! He followed the trail, his heart beating with excitement. Dab, dot, smudge. The trail led behind a big mushroom. And there, hiding, was a tiny field mouse named Pip, covered in blue and yellow paint.
Pip looked very scared. "I... I just wanted to paint one egg," he squeaked, holding up a tiny, plain pebble. "But I was too shy to ask." Flick’s frustration melted away. He saw how much the little mouse wanted to be part of the fun. "You don't have to take my paint, little friend," Flick said kindly. "You can share it!" He brought the rest of his paints over to the mushroom, and together, they painted the most colorful pebble in the forest. Flick learned that a mystery can sometimes have a very sweet and simple answer, and sharing his colors made them seem even brighter.
Coloring page Age Appropriateness
The 'Picture Book Style' is excellent for preschoolers as it creates a clear, story-driven scene. The large, defined shapes of the mushroom, squirrel, and mouse are perfect for little hands to color. The theme of sharing and creating art together is a positive and relatable concept for children aged 3-5, tying in beautifully with creative Easter activities like painting eggs.
Coloring Page Coloring Instructions
Look at these two new friends painting together! What colors will you use for Flick the squirrel's big, fluffy tail? And for the tiny mouse, Pip? They are painting a special pebble to look like an Easter egg. You can make it the most colorful pebble in the whole forest! Don't forget to give the big mushroom house some fun colors too. Maybe it has red and white spots!
Coloring Page Printing Tips
For a storybook feel, print this on off-white or cream-colored paper. Use a 'fit to page' setting to ensure the entire charming scene is captured. Printing on slightly thicker paper will make the finished piece feel like a real illustration from a book, perfect for displaying after this Easter coloring session.
Recommended Tools
Soft colored pencils would be lovely for this page, allowing for gentle blending. Water-based markers provide bold, flat color that mimics a classic picture book illustration. For the youngest artists, large crayons are always a wonderful and safe choice.
