Coloring page story

Flicker was a tiny firefly. His light was a small blink... blink... blink. He looked at the big, bright moon and wished he could be as bright.

Then the fireworks began. A huge streak of gold shot up, higher than he could fly, and burst into a thousand tiny lights. It was brighter than the moon! Flicker felt very, very small.

But then, his firefly friend, Glimmer, blinked beside him. "Look, Flicker! They look like us! Big, giant fireflies dancing!"

Flicker looked again. The sparkling green firework did look like a giant firefly. The crackling white one looked like a whole family of fireflies having a party. He blinked his light. The firework sparkled back. He blinked again. A shower of silver rained down. He wasn't just watching; he was part of the show!

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

Excellent for ages 3-5. The characters are simple, cute insects, a topic many children love. The core concept of 'big' and 'small' is easy to grasp. The large, simple shapes of both the fireflies and the fireworks prevent frustration and make coloring a successful and rewarding activity.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Wow, look at the fireflies! Let's color them. You can make their bodies green or black, and what color will you make their lights? A bright, glowing yellow would be beautiful! Above them is the giant firework that looks like a big firefly. You can color it with lots of different colors to make it look like it's sparkling in the night sky. Don't forget to add some stars!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

To make the lights really stand out, try printing this page on dark blue or black construction paper if your printer allows. Then, your child can use white, yellow, or metallic crayons and gel pens to make the fireworks and firefly lights truly glow against the 'night sky'.

Recommended Tools

Gel pens or metallic crayons would be fantastic for this page to create a shiny, shimmery effect on the lights. Standard chunky crayons are also great for filling in the main body of the fireworks and the cute little bugs.
