Coloring page story
The moon was a sliver of silver in the velvety night sky. It was the perfect time for firefly hide-and-seek! All of Flicker’s friends were blinking and twinkling. Blink! Flash! Twinkle! But when Flicker tried to turn on his light… nothing happened. He tried again. Still dark. His little light-up tail felt cold.
"I can't play!" he cried to his friend, Luna. "My blinker is broken!" He hid behind a toadstool, feeling useless and sad as the other fireflies zipped through the air like tiny stars.
A deep, rumbly voice said, "What's all the fuss, little bug?" It was Bartholomew, the wise old toad.
"My light is gone," Flicker sniffled. "I can't do anything."
Bartholomew chuckled. "Nonsense. You still have your wings, don't you? And your ears? Let's try a new game. You close your eyes and listen. I'll make a sound, and you try to find me."
Flicker wasn't sure, but he agreed. He listened hard. He heard the crick-crick of the crickets and the whoosh of the wind. Then he heard it... a soft plonk. He flew towards the sound and found Bartholomew by the pond! He giggled. They played again. This time, he listened for the swish-swish of his firefly friends' wings and found them hiding in the tall grass. He was a fantastic finder! He was having so much fun, he almost forgot about his broken light. As he laughed with pure joy, a tiny glimmer appeared on his tail. Then another! Blink! His light was back! Maybe it just needed a happy jiggle to work again. But Flicker knew that even without his light, he was still a wonderful friend.

Ensure your printer is set to a high contrast setting to make the black lines pop against the white paper.
