Lily loved July evenings when the sun went to sleep and the stars began to peek out. But her favourite lights were not in the sky. They were in the grass.

"Twinkle bugs!" she whispered.

One little firefly blinked its light right by her toes. Blink. Another blinked by a daisy. Blink. Lily held out her hands, cupped together like a little lantern. A brave firefly flew right inside! It lit up her hands with a soft, greeny-gold glow.

"Hello, little light," she whispered. She watched it blink one more time, then opened her hands and let it fly away to dance with its friends.
