Coloring page story

In Farmer McGregor's field, there stood a tall sunflower named Sunny. Every July morning, Sunny would stretch his big yellow petals to greet the sun. But one morning, he was too sleepy. His heavy head drooped down.

A little honeybee named Buzzy came flying by. "Wake up, Sunny!" buzzed the bee. "It's a beautiful day!"

Buzzy tickled the sunflower's face with his fuzzy little legs as he looked for nectar. Bzzz-bzzz-tickle. Sunny giggled a leafy giggle. He stretched his petals wide and lifted his face to the sky. "Thank you, Buzzy!" he rustled. "I didn't want to miss a moment of this lovely July sun."

Coloring page Age Appropriateness

The anthropomorphic (human-like) faces on the sunflower and sun make the scene friendly and relatable for ages 3-5. The large, repetitive shapes of the petals are excellent for practicing coloring.

Coloring Page Coloring Instructions

Good morning, sunshine! This big, happy sunflower is named Sunny. Can you give him bright yellow petals? And his friend, Buzzy the bee, needs some yellow and black stripes. The center of the flower can be a warm brown, where all the seeds are. Let's make this the sunniest picture ever!

Coloring Page Printing Tips

For a cheerful result, print on standard white paper. This page is perfect for a group activity; print one for each child and see how differently each sunflower turns out. Standard print settings will work wonderfully.

Recommended Tools

Crayons are excellent for this page, allowing for texture in the flower's center. Colored pencils are also great for staying within the lines of the big petals. Encourage your child to make each petal a different color for a rainbow sunflower!
